Ellen Kang
Senior Occupational Therapist

Ellen is a mental health occupational therapist with extensive experience in youth and adult mental health since 2006. With a foundation in Neuroscience and diverse clinical experience across Perth, Melbourne, rural Queensland, and London, she brings a comprehensive and nuanced approach to mental healthcare.
Specialising in personalised, strengths-based therapy, Ellen supports clients with nervous system regulation, emotion management, executive functioning, and building robust support networks. She has a particular focus on interoception (internal body awareness) and sensory modulation, helping clients develop effective strategies for managing distress and uncertainty. Ellen draws from various therapeutic frameworks, including compassion-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and DBT, while thoughtfully incorporating lived experience resources through books, podcasts, and apps.
Currently working in both private practice and a specialist youth mental health service, Ellen has particular expertise in supporting neurodivergent individuals (including those with ADHD, ASD, and psychosis) and those from marginalised communities. Her collaborative approach emphasises understanding both individual needs and broader societal factors that impact mental health and wellbeing.
Ellen enjoys live music, craft, and slowly figuring out how to grow and maintain a small garden in Perth.
Ellen works from the clinic at 316 Fitzgerald Street on Tuesdays and can provide limited telehealth appointments.
